Dr. Tarit Nimmanwudipong received his Ph.D. in Chemical engineering at the University of California Davis, working under the supervision of Professor Bruce C. Gates and Professor David E. Block.  His doctoral research focused on the catalytic conversion of compounds derived from lignocellulosic biomass into fuels and chemicals by using different types of flow reactors.  He also completed Graduate Certificate in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University.  His current postdoctoral research at MIT includes development of a flow micro-reactor system for the study of bio-oils upgrading reactions, investigation of the conversion of lignin-derived compounds, and synthesis of novel nanoparticles potentially used as high-performance catalysts for petroleum and petrochemical processes.
