Dr. Krishna K Sharma completed his M.Sc. in Bio-organic in 2006 from Syracuse University and further defended his Ph.D. in February 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Tewodros (Teddy) Asefa from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. Dr. Sharma’s research work was primarily focused on the self-assembly of molecules into a variety of efficient multifunctional and selective heterogeneous nanocatalysts and further investigation of their bifunctional cooperative properties for possible applications in catalysis, drug delivery and sensors. Currently his work is concentrated on the design of novel hybrid organic-inorganic nanoporous materials that can transform biomass-derived carbohydrates into novel bio-polymers with monomers also obtained from renewable resources. The whole process further demands the development of water-stable heterogeneous catalytic system, which can efficiently deoxygenate the monosaccharides along with reducing the number of operations in a sustainable, cost-competitive, and environmentally friendly manner.
