Karthik received his B.S. in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 2011. His undergraduate research experiences include working in Professor David A. Tirrell’s lab on creating enzymes of novel composition by the incorporation of non-canonical amino acids and then evolving these enzymes to be active towards new substrates. He also worked for Professor Sossina Haile on evaluating the practicality of solid acid electrolytes in fuel cells. His current research interest is in understanding the structure-activity relationship of catalysts using spectroscopic and computational techniques. His current project focuses on the synthesis and characterization of catalyst sites for the low temperature oxidation reactions.
